Exclusive: Brighton German forward opens up on his future home…

Fabian Hurzeler is eager to retain the services of Brighton & Hove Albion’s 18-goal star for the upcoming season.

According to HITC, Brighton & Hove Albion have made a definitive decision regarding the future of one of their promising forwards as they look ahead to the next season.

Brighton & Hove Albion are gearing up for a new era without Roberto De Zerbi, who concluded his 18-month tenure at the AMEX Stadium. De Zerbi, the former Shakhtar Donetsk manager, led the Seagulls to qualify for the Europa League and came close to reaching the FA Cup final against Manchester City in the 2022/23 season, falling short only in a penalty shootout.

The club’s leadership has chosen former St. Pauli manager Fabian Hurzeler as De Zerbi’s successor. It appears that Brighton has already started planning for the summer under Hurzeler’s guidance.

Denis Undav, a German forward, went head-to-head with Randal Kolo Muani of France during an international friendly match at Groupama Stadium.

Sources have revealed to HITC that Hurzeler and Brighton are determined to keep striker Denis Undav following his impressive stint in the Bundesliga.

Hurzeler has communicated to the club his desire to bring Undav back, and the club’s plan was always to reintegrate him after his stellar season with Stuttgart.

Undav enjoyed an outstanding season at Stuttgart, where he scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists in the Bundesliga, helping the team secure second place behind Bayer Leverkusen, who claimed the German title with ease.

HITC understands that Stuttgart has an option to purchase Undav, but Brighton holds a buy-back clause. While exercising this clause would incur some cost, it ensures Brighton maintains control over Undav’s future.

Undav has spoken about his future in a press conference ahead of Germany’s final group game of Euro 2024, admitting he has been in contact with Brighton’s new manager.

“Of course, I was in contact with Fabian, we talked about it,” Undav said, as reported by Bild. “I explained my vision to him, and he shared his thoughts about me. But everything is very relaxed. I want to focus on the European Championships.”

The forward joined Brighton for £6 million in January 2022 but struggled to make a significant impact in the Premier League. After his exceptional season in the Bundesliga, there is hope that Undav can replicate that form under a new manager at the AMEX Stadium.

Brighton & Hove Albion supporters have been given an insight into what to expect from the incoming manager Fabian Hurzeler, who arrives from the German side St. Pauli.

Roberto De Zerbi ended his 18-month spell at Brighton following the conclusion of the Premier League season. The 31-year-old Fabian Hurzeler will take over from the Italian manager.

HITC understands that De Zerbi is set to become the new manager of French club Marseille, having declined offers from Manchester United, who were uncertain about Erik ten Hag’s future.

Brighton, known for their proactive approach, quickly identified and secured Hurzeler as De Zerbi’s replacement.

Jackson Irvine, former captain of St. Pauli under Hurzeler’s management, has provided some insights into what Brighton fans can expect from their new manager. Speaking to The Athletic, Irvine emphasized Hurzeler’s meticulous attention to detail.

“The biggest thing is just the focus on detail. He is the most detail-oriented coach I have ever had in 15 years in the game,” Irvine said. “Everything you do, every training session, every aspect of the day, is centered on understanding the principles of play and the specifics, details of positioning. It’s the same for every player. Everything is structured to go into the way you play. It really shows because the connection the players then have on the field is the understanding of everything you do.”

It is becoming evident why Brighton chose to take a risk on appointing Hurzeler for the new season. The emphasis on detail that Irvine mentions mirrors De Zerbi’s approach during his successful time at the AMEX Stadium, which included reaching an FA Cup semi-final and securing Europa League football.

Transfers will be crucial for Brighton as they prepare for the next season, but HITC reports that the club might lose one of their key players, Pascal Gross, who is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund this summer.
