The Baggies should be looking to pip Sheffield Wednesday to transfer deal to soften Kipre blow: View

Those affiliated with West Brom will likely be anticipating the upcoming season with a sense of hope and positivity.

During the 2023/24 season, West Brom secured a spot in the Championship play-offs but faced defeat in the semi-finals against Southampton, halting their promotion aspirations.

Nevertheless, with Shilen Patel taking over the club in February, there’s optimism for increased squad investment at The Hawthorns during this summer’s transfer window.

This, in turn, fuels hope that West Brom will have the necessary resources to excel next season and potentially secure a return to English football’s top-flight.

Yet even if their side is to be improved this summer, there is a chance that the Baggies will have to try and win promotion next season, without one of their key men from the most recent campaign.

Cedric Kipre may be on the verge of leaving West Brom. Last season, he played a crucial role in the team’s backline, contributing significantly to their play-off qualification.

Despite being signed in the summer of 2020, it was during this past season that he truly showcased his abilities for West Brom.

His consistent and impressive performances under Carlos Corberan’s management earned him widespread acclaim and recognition.

That though, has now created something of a problem for the Baggies. Kipre is out of contract this summer, and is now attracting attention from top-flight clubs across Europe.

Several clubs, including Ipswich Town, Strasbourg, and Trabzonspor, have shown interest in Cedric Kipre.

The opportunity to play at such levels will likely appeal to him, especially as he is now free to choose his next club this summer due to his contract situation. This freedom may make it challenging for West Brom to retain him.

If Kipre does depart, West Brom might consider a solution akin to Sheffield Wednesday’s situation to address this potential loss.
