Luton Town have joined a long list of Championship sides looking to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Luton Town have joined a host of Championship clubs in pursuit of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace this summer.

Despite making just six Premier League appearances last season and scoring four times in the Premier League Two, the forward demonstrated his potential with 15 goals during a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in the 2022/2023 season. Eager for more opportunities, Rak-Sakyi seeks to build on his promising track record.

Last summer, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson prevented Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from joining Southampton on loan, viewing him as integral to the first team. Despite this, injuries and fluctuating form meant he had limited playing time.

According to the Football League reports, Luton Town manager Rob Edwards is eager to recruit the 21-year-old to Kenilworth Road to foster his development and boost Luton’s bid for Premier League qualification.

Blackburn Rovers have also shown interest in the Palace forward, whereas Southampton, previously linked, have recently diminished their interest.

Palace must prioritize Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s development carefully. Initially touted as the next Wilfried Zaha when he first broke into the first team, he was sent on loan to Charlton, where he excelled with 15 goals and eight assists.

The challenge now lies in making the right next move for his career. Despite interest from Championship clubs, Palace declined loan offers, and Rak-Sakyi’s playing time was limited to just six league games, partly due to injury.

With Michael Olise’s potential departure and Tottenham’s interest in Eberechi Eze, Palace may defer any final decisions on Rak-Sakyi until after pre-season, making the upcoming season crucial for his progression and potential breakthrough.
