Nottingham forest man assured a more prominent role elsewhere with huge amount inclined…
Moussa Niakhaté, a player from Nottingham Forest, is reportedly set to join Lyon according to recent reports from France.
FootMercato indicates that the Ligue 1 club is ‘on the verge of completing’ the transfer, with Niakhaté’s medical examination already planned.
Lyon appears to be outpacing significant competition for the Nottingham Forest defender, as Lille and Crystal Palace were also interested in signing him.
The report suggests that Lyon will pay €15 million for Niakhaté, though some sources suggest the fee might be slightly higher. This sale will be financially beneficial for Nottingham Forest as they aim to conclude a major transaction before the end of the financial year.
An interesting aspect of this transfer is that Niakhaté reportedly sought advice from Orel Mangala, another Nottingham Forest player who has been on loan at Lyon in recent months.
Niakhaté has struggled to secure a consistent starting position at Nottingham Forest this season. Despite making 23 appearances, he often found himself on the bench for extended periods.
This could explain why he turned down offers from Crystal Palace and Lille, as Lyon has promised him a more prominent role in their squad.
