Exclusive: Huddersfield, Plymouth, and Birmingham City battle for a Brighton star
Football Insider has been informed by sources that Plymouth Argyle and Huddersfield have inquired about signing Marc Leonard, a midfielder for Brighton.
Nevertheless, Birmingham City is now focusing on the 22-year-old.
The Blues have increased their interest since they have taken steps to reduce players’ salary bills and have made progress with the arrival of players in higher-priority positions.
Three of the four recently demoted League One teams are now vying for his signature in an attempt to return to the Championship.
During his two years at the club on loan from Brighton, Leonard made 97 appearances for Northampton, which helped the team win promotion from League Two and stability in League One.
He has adapted well to the club’s advancement up the divisions and impressed prospective suitors, with clubs eager to give him another go at the third tier.

Huddersfield, Birmingham, and Plymouth, who placed 23rd, 22nd, and 21st in the Championship the previous year, will look to Leonard for support in their push for promotion.
Birmingham has been particularly aggressive in the transfer market thus far, and their solid financial standing gives them an edge over their competitors.
Their late entry into the battle to sign him, after Huddersfield and Plymouth had already reached out, may now complicate a possible deal.
