Joao Palhinha has spoken out about the potential move to Bayern Munich.
Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha has discussed the ongoing transfer saga with Bayern Munich, as the two clubs continue negotiations over the transfer fee.
Bayern Munich have targeted Joao Palhinha as their primary choice to bolster their midfield this summer. The Bavarian club views Palhinha as the perfect fit for the defensive midfield role in their starting lineup. Bayern had attempted to secure the Portuguese midfielder’s signature last summer on deadline day.
Negotiations between Bayern and Fulham for Palhinha have been ongoing for the past three weeks. The decision to renew their interest in Palhinha came after reaching an understanding with Vincent Kompany on the necessity of acquiring a defensive midfielder.
Fulham have turned down two offers from Bayern Munich for Joao Palhinha this summer. The Premier League club is holding out for a fee around €65 million for the Portuguese midfielder. Bayern had agreed to this transfer fee last summer on deadline day but are reluctant to match that amount this year.
The Bundesliga champions are preparing a final bid of €46 million for Palhinha. The midfielder has already reached a personal agreement with Bayern.
In interviews with German media (via Sky Sports), Palhinha has expressed his desire for Fulham to facilitate his move to Munich, adding pressure to the negotiations.
Bayern will not wait the entire summer for Palhinha. They hope to find a breakthrough in negotiations sooner rather than later. The Portuguese midfielder is desperate to seal a move to Munich after missing out on the transfer last summer. His words in the media may push Die Roten’s case of resolving the transfer as soon as possible.
If Bayern Munich can’t reach an agreement with Fulham for Joao Palhinha, they have other options for the defensive midfield position. They are eyeing Everton’s Amadou Onana and also have an interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte this summer.
Palhinha is hopeful that Bayern won’t need to pursue other midfield targets after the Euros. His eagerness to join Bayern gives the club leverage in negotiations. Given Palhinha’s age and top-level experience, Bayern’s final bid is seen as a reasonable valuation for the midfielder.
Bayern Munich are actively pursuing several transfers: they’ve agreed on a fee with Crystal Palace for Michael Olise and are working to finalize the deal. Additionally, they aim to bolster their attack by negotiating a loan with an obligation to buy for Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain.
Furthermore, Bayern is in ongoing discussions with Bayer Leverkusen for Jonathan Tah, making headway after their initial bid for the German defender was turned down by the Bundesliga champions.
