Luton Town,a soon to be new home for Nottingham Forest 25y/o midfielder Lewis O’Brien…
Luton Town are interested in a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien along with Norwich City, according to a report.
Luton Town has set its sights on a 24-year-old player, with Rob Edwards focused on bringing in new talent. According to a report by The Sun, Luton Town is interested in acquiring Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien, who is also being pursued by Norwich City. Luton Town is preparing for a return to the Championship and sees O’Brien as a player who could add competition and depth to their midfield options. However, they will face competition for his signature this summer.
O’Brien, who is now 25, spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, making 23 appearances in all competitions while at Riverside Stadium. He has since returned to Nottingham Forest, where he still has a couple of years left on his contract. The Sun reports that Luton Town has identified him as a target in this transfer window as they aim to refresh their squad. Rob Edwards, who remains in charge at Kenilworth Road, is aiming for an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
O’Brien began his career in the academy at Huddersfield Town and gained experience on loan at Bradford City before breaking into Huddersfield’s first team. During his time there, he helped the team reach the play-off final under manager Carlos Corberan before being signed by Nottingham Forest.
Despite his potential, O’Brien has struggled to make an impact at Nottingham Forest. He was loaned to DC United in Major League Soccer before joining Middlesbrough on a temporary basis last year. Luton Town may see him as a player who can provide a different dynamic in their midfield, especially since he is left-footed and could offer better balance in that area.
It appears unlikely that O’Brien will remain at Nottingham Forest, as he has fallen out of favor and has been loaned out twice. While Luton Town is a potential destination for him, Norwich City is also reportedly interested.
