‘It was a no-brainer’: Town record signing Hutchinson on a permanent contract
Omari Hutchinson, Ipswich Town’s record signing, said it was a ‘no-brainer’ to join the club on a permanent basis following his excellent loan stay last season.
The 20-year-old star has signed a five-year contract with Chelsea for an initial cost of £18 million, with additional increases pushing the total to £22 million.
The cost breaks Town’s previous record of £4.8 million, which they paid Sampdoria for goalkeeper Matteo Sereni in 2001.

Hutchinson was instrumental in ITFC’s promotion to the Premier League last season, earning the Young Player of the Year award for his 11 goals and six assists in his maiden senior season.
He spoke to TownTV: “I’m very excited, I had a good connection with the fans and especially a good connection with the manager, so it wasn’t a hard decision to come here on a permanent and I’m looking forward to it.”
The Jamaican international also mentioned that the fans and manager Kieran McKenna had a role in his return.
