Too Expensive: brighton clears stance on £60m major talent – maybe not now.

Brighton Decide Against Meeting Tottenham’s Valuation for Luka Vuskovic

Reports indicate that Brighton & Hove Albion are unwilling to match Tottenham Hotspur’s £60 million valuation for highly-rated defender Luka Vuskovic, despite their continued interest in securing his signature this summer.

The two Premier League clubs have been involved in transfer discussions recently, particularly concerning Vuskovic and Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke. Tottenham have strengthened their squad with the additions of Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi and have now successfully completed a £52 million deal for Van Hecke.

Transfer expert David Ornstein confirmed that Tottenham and Brighton have agreed terms for Van Hecke’s move, while emphasizing that negotiations regarding Vuskovic remain separate. Brighton’s latest offer, reportedly worth £35 million, was rejected by Spurs.

The 19-year-old Croatian defender has attracted widespread attention following an impressive loan spell at Hamburg, where he scored six goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances. Although he has yet to make a senior appearance for Tottenham, several clubs across Europe are monitoring his situation.

Brighton have already seen two bids turned down and are believed to have reached a verbal agreement with the player. However, they are not prepared to meet Tottenham’s £60 million asking price and are instead seeking a compromise that would lower the overall transfer fee.

Sources suggest Tottenham would prefer to retain Vuskovic, but Brighton believe they can offer the young defender a clearer route to regular first-team football. As a result, negotiations may continue as both clubs attempt to find common ground.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone reports that Brighton currently have no plans to submit another bid. Although the Seagulls will need a replacement for Van Hecke, who was a regular starter last season, the club is not rushing into a deal and is prepared to assess its options before making another move.
