Portsmouth Secure Promising Winger Eoin Kenny as Their Second Summer Signing
Portsmouth have officially announced the signing of talented young winger Eoin Kenny, making him the club’s second acquisition of the summer transfer window. The highly rated 20-year-old joins the Championship side from League of Ireland outfit Dundalk after agreeing to a three-year contract, with the transfer fee remaining undisclosed.
Kenny, who is a regular member of the Northern Ireland Under-21 national team, attracted significant interest from several clubs before choosing Portsmouth. Both Luton Town and Lincoln City were keen to secure his signature, but the Blues ultimately won the race to bring the promising winger to Fratton Park.
Despite his young age, Kenny already possesses considerable first-team experience, having made more than 100 senior appearances during his career. His performances for Dundalk have earned him a reputation as one of the most exciting young attacking talents to emerge from the League of Ireland, making him a valuable addition to Portsmouth’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
Following the completion of the transfer, Kenny is expected to immediately integrate with his new teammates. Having travelled to the Republic of Ireland on Sunday, he will join Portsmouth’s pre-season training camp as the club continues preparations for the upcoming season.
Kenny’s arrival follows the recent signing of former Stockport County midfielder Odin Bailey, who joined Portsmouth on a free transfer last week. The club also remains active in the transfer market and is close to finalising deals for Rocco Shein and Marko Milovanovic, with both players expected to arrive for sizeable transfer fees as Portsmouth continue strengthening their squad.
