I shouldn’t have left – Brighton and hove Albion most valued man is finally back – Here’s always home for me.

Ferdi Kadioglu’s Early Return Hands Brighton a Timely Pre-Season Boost

Brighton & Hove Albion have received an unexpected boost ahead of the new campaign, with Ferdi Kadioglu set to return to the club earlier than anticipated after Turkey’s disappointing FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign came to a premature end.

Turkey entered Group D with high expectations and genuine hopes of progressing beyond the group stage under head coach Vincenzo Montella. However, consecutive defeats against Australia and Paraguay effectively ended their qualification hopes before their final fixture against the United States. According to Stars and Stripes FC, those opening losses sealed Turkey’s fate, while Kadioglu was highlighted as Brighton’s representative in Montella’s 26-man squad throughout the tournament.

For Brighton, Turkey’s early elimination may be disappointing from an international perspective, but it comes as welcome news for Fabian Hurzeler. Instead of spending additional weeks involved in the latter stages of the competition, Kadioglu will now report back to the Seagulls in time to enjoy a full pre-season alongside his teammates.

The timing could hardly be better. Kadioglu has become one of Brighton’s most influential and dependable players, and his importance to the squad was further recognised earlier this month when he was named the club’s Men’s Player of the Season. His performances throughout the campaign demonstrated not only his technical quality but also his consistency and versatility, qualities that have made him one of Hurzeler’s most trusted options.

Turkey’s campaign also served as another reminder of Kadioglu’s tactical value. Under Montella, he once again showcased his remarkable adaptability by performing comfortably in multiple positions, including as a full-back, wing-back and even as a midfielder capable of linking defence with attack. FIFA previously highlighted this versatility in a pre-tournament interview conducted at Brighton’s training facilities, reinforcing why the Premier League club considers him such an integral member of the squad.

As Brighton prepare for another demanding season that will include Premier League action alongside UEFA Conference League commitments, having a player with Kadioglu’s flexibility available from the very beginning of pre-season is a significant advantage. Hurzeler has been carefully monitoring the workloads of several key internationals, including Maxim De Cuyper, Bart Verbruggen and Yasin Ayari, whose involvement in international competitions could delay their returns.

Kadioglu, however, now appears set to avoid the extended schedule that accompanies a deep tournament run. His earlier return provides valuable time to recover physically, rebuild match fitness and integrate fully into Hurzeler’s tactical plans before the competitive season begins.

Following the demands of his first full Premier League campaign, the 26-year-old now has an opportunity to reset both mentally and physically before the new season gets underway. His presence from day one of pre-season should bring greater stability, defensive assurance and valuable experience to a Brighton side aiming to establish consistency domestically while also making a strong impression in European competition.
